  • Investors from Qatar and Ukraine compete for Olvia Sea Port concession

    The receipt of applications for concession tenders for the State Enterprise "Stevedoring Company "Olvia", which began on October 18, 2019, has just wrapped up.

    Over this period the competition commission received 3 applications from Ukrainian and international companies. Participants of the concession are port operators from Ukraine and Qatar. Two of the three companies are pre-qualified to participate in the next phase. Concerning the third, the decision of the Nomination Commission has not been taken by now, since the application was submitted on the deadline day.

    The project implementation at the Olvia Sea Port in Mykolaiv is + $66 million of investments and a minimum of $3 million of municipal investments. Also it's $3 million in annual concession fee. 

    It is important that both qualified companies are powerful corporations with international status, allowing them to bring not only finances but also tangible experience in quality fulfillment of investment obligations.

    The next stage of the evaluation of the competitive bids of the participants and determination of the winner will take place in January 2020.

    Background

    The Government has identified infrastructure concessions as one of the priorities in the economic bloc. Concession projects at the ports of Chernomorsk, Odesa, Izmail, Berdyansk, Mariupol, concessions of railway stations - Dnipro, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnitsky, Mykolaiv, Chop are currently being prepared together with international partners. The issue of concession of regional airports and roads is being considered.
