Oleksii Kuleba: Making eOselia more accessible for railway workers
From today, the preferential mortgage programme eOselia has become more accessible for families of Ukrainian railway workers who have been forced to leave their homes due to the war.
Ukrzaliznytsia is one of the largest employers of internally displaced persons, and this is a step in state support for a sector that is strategic for the country.
“Railway workers ensure connectivity, maintain logistics, and help the country move forward even during the war. The state must support those who support the country. That is why we are making eOselia more accessible for railway employees,” stated Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development.
Under the Frontline Territories Support Programme, the state will finance document processing (up to UAH 40,000) and cover 70% of the down payment, with Ukrzaliznytsia as the employer covering an additional 20%. Furthermore, for the first year, the state will compensate monthly payments, and the company will support its employees for three years.
- First year: the state will cover 70% of the monthly payment; Ukrzaliznytsia – 10%.
- Second year: the company will cover 20% of the monthly payment.
- Third year: the company will cover 30% of the monthly payment.
This will enable railway workers to purchase housing worth up to UAH 2 million with a down payment of no more than UAH 60,000.
The first participants in the programme were a train driver’s family from Poltava region, whose home in Pokrovsk was destroyed during shelling. They have already received the first voucher to purchase housing. By the end of the year, the first 100 railway worker families are expected to join the programme.
The Government, together with Ukrzaliznytsia, is working to expand support programmes for the sector and create opportunities to increase workers’ wages.
