Among the topics raised during the meeting were the situation with the construction and repair of roads, obtaining permits, creating new jobs and more.

On Thursday, April 16, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a working meeting with representatives of road construction companies, during which was also present the Head of the State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The participants of the meeting raised the issue of obtaining permits for the start of construction work, which became relevant due to the decision to eliminate SACI (State Architectural and Construction Inspectorate of Ukraine). The Prime Minister stressed that the issue was under the control of the Cabinet of Ministers and was being worked on.

The construction professionals also expressed an urgent need to approve the methodology for the procurement of road construction works. The meeting’s participants tackled the findings of a working group engaged in the development of single rules and conditions. But they aired hope that the group would come to a final decision on the issue next week.

The Head of Government paid special attention to the employment of Ukrainians in the road construction industry. He stressed that it was rather crucial to ensure that the contractors to involve the Ukrainians to road construction and repair activities at most.

"We have previously agreed that the lion's share of specialists involved in the work should be citizens of our country. At this time, when so many Ukrainians have returned home, we must provide them with jobs. This applies to both domestic and foreign contractors who work or will work on the construction of roads," said Denys Shmyhal.

In addition, an agreement was reached with the representatives of road construction companies to maximize the involvement of the domestic producer.

"I believe that if the materials are produced in Ukraine, they should be used primarily in construction," the Prime Minister urged.

The parties have agreed on the regular character of such meetings and the full implementation of the undertaken commitments.
