On December 3, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal chaired a meeting on the progress of development and implementation of a policy of fair transformation of Ukraine’s coal regions.

The Prime Minister listened information provided by Minister of Energy German Galushchenko and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Chernyshov on the project implementation.

"It is crucial to intensify the process of preparation for the first pilot projects for the fair transformation of coal regions. It is worth studying the specifics of mono-cities and suggest ways to develop them in other areas of the economy, so that residents obtain new opportunities for implementation. This is a lasting process that requires significant resources, including financial, from our international partners. It is also a good platform for public-private partnership projects," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister gave a commission to the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development to accelerate the process of implementing a policy of fair transformation of coal regions in Ukraine in order to see the first results of the reform next year.
