The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and of Norway Jonas Hahr Støre discussed cooperation in the economic and defence sectors. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group in Washington, DC.

The parties addressed an issue of joint arms production. The Head of the Ukrainian Government stressed that there are already examples of successful cooperation in this area and the countries are committed to developing and expanding cooperation.

"We count on the assistance of the Government of Norway in supporting companies interested in investing in Ukraine. This is an investment not only in Ukraine's defence capability, but also in the security of the whole of Europe," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister also accentuated on the importance of supporting our country and commended the allocation of USD 8 billion for Ukraine by Norway this year.

"The overwhelming majority of these funds are directed to military needs. Over the past two weeks, USD 1.4 billion has been allocated for artillery ammunition and military training, and two smaller packages - to strengthen the healthcare system and rebuild Ukraine," the Head of Government said.

He stressed that Norway had been and still remained an important ally of our country and thanked for its co-leadership of the Maritime Capability Coalition, as well as active and effective participation in the Air, Air Defence, Drone and Electronic Warfare Coalitions.

The meeting's participants also focused on economic cooperation between the two countries. An important topic of conversation was Ukraine's efforts to end the war.

"We appreciate Norway's position on the importance of establishing a just peace," said Denys Shmyhal.
