On the occasion of the Railway Workers’ Day, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal inspected the new railcars of Ukrzaliznytsia.
One of them has been repaired at the expense of the company, and the other – a children’s carriage – was created in cooperation with UNICEF. The Head of Government also inspected a new modern carriage manufactured by the Kriukiv Railway Car Building Works at Government’s order.
“It is important for Ukrainian companies to receive more such orders, as this supports the Ukrainian economy,” the Prime Minister stressed.
Denys Shmyhal also honoured Ukrainian railway workers, presenting them with certificates of honour from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and letters of thanks from the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
“Railways are our arteries of life that connect Ukraine from west to east and from south to north. They are used to deliver medicines, food and everything our defenders need to the frontline areas. They transport Ukrainian soldiers to and from the frontline and evacuate civilians from settlements. They also deliver grain to Ukrainian ports to feed the world and get resources for defence. I congratulate you on your professional holiday and thank you for everything you do for our resilience and victory,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Government noted that railway workers not only ensured the movement of passengers and goods, but also restored everything destroyed by the enemy. According to him, this year alone, more than 700 km of tracks have been restored.
“Rolling stock is also being repaired, new services and new opportunities are being introduced for passengers. We are implementing ambitious plans for integration into the European railway area,” the Prime Minister added.
Denys Shmyhal expressed confidence that the day would come when Ukrainian railway workers would run to liberated Donetsk, Luhansk, Simferopol and dozens of other Ukrainian cities and towns.
