Production of UAVs and their components: Lithuania and Ukraine sign memorandum of understanding

On 4 October, Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Herman Smetanin and Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov met with Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania Laurynas Kasčiūnas.

“Lithuania has stood by Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, and you have helped to develop our defence industry. We have already signed agreements on the creation of innovative products, Lithuanian companies are members of the Alliance of Defence Industries, and the Lithuanian government provides funds for the production of weapons in Ukraine. I am pleased that our cooperation is deepening, especially with the document we have signed today. I am convinced that this will strengthen the defence capabilities of both our countries against the common enemy,” said Herman Smetanin.

During the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding that provides for cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania in several areas of the defence industry. In particular, it concerns the production of unmanned systems and their components, electronic warfare equipment and other technological solutions. It also includes research projects and joint development of advanced technologies.

“Today we have signed an important memorandum that will help strengthen our defenders on the battlefield and our defence industry. The document provides for the joint production of UAVs and components, ammunition and components, electronic warfare equipment and the development of advanced technologies. I am sincerely grateful to Lithuania and my colleague Laurynas Kasčiūnas for their unwavering support for Ukraine in these difficult times. I am convinced that together with such reliable allies as Lithuania we will prevail and defeat the aggressor,” said Rustem Umerov.
