On the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine, celebrations were held in Kyiv, on St. Sophia Square, with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The event also brought together Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, ministers and the military. Ukraine's foreign partners, President of Poland Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė, also joined the event.

"Independence Day symbolises the strength of spirit and greatness of the Ukrainian people. It is a holiday made possible by the heroism and courage of Ukrainian defenders. Thanks to all those who work in the home front. Ukraine remains a free, democratic and independent state. Let us be united, let us be unbreakable, let us be determined in our pursuit of freedom and justice. Together, we will definitely withstand, win and rebuild our Ukraine," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal greeted.
