At an extraordinary meeting, the Government endorsed a number of decisions aimed at supplying potable water to the population in southern Ukraine. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

“These will be the Karachunivske Reservoir - Kryvyi Rih - Pivdenne Reservoir, Marhanets - Nikopol, Khortytsia - Tomakivka water pipelines. This is essential to provide Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol and Marhanets with drinking water. The work will start right away to avoid wasting precious time. The State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development will be responsible for implementing the projects,” noted the Prime Minister.

Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers allotted to Kherson, Mykolayiv, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions almost UAH 846 mn to cover the needs of the regions in potable water.

Earlier, on June 6, the Government allocated UAH 120 million to the State Agency of Water Resources for the sustainable supply of drinking water to the residents of Mykolaiv.

According to Denys Shmyhal, the water will be supplied through the Ingulets riverbed in a special mode of operation. The project will help to achieve the required drinking water quality indicators and return its supply to the city.
