Olha Stefanishyna meets with IMF team

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission.

The meeting was attended by Gavin Gray, Head of the IMF Mission to Ukraine, Trevor Lessard, Deputy Head of Mission, Heiko Hesse, Senior Mission Economist, Priscilla Toffano, IMF Resident Representative for Ukraine, Emanuel Matthias, Head of the IMF Governance and Anti-Corruption Division, Jeroen Clicq, IMF Executive Director, and Vladyslav Rashkovan, Alternate Executive Director. The meeting was joined online by Jonathan Pampolina, IMF Senior Counsel.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Ukraine’s progress in fulfilling its obligations under the updated Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies after the fourth review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme.

“Our anti-corruption reform agenda is aimed at effectively fighting corruption, maintaining public confidence in the rule of law and advancing our goal of Ukraine’s EU integration. We are committed to improving the rule of law and continuing judicial reforms,” said Olha Stefanishyna.

The parties recognised the importance of establishing a shared vision for the strategic directions of further transformations in the upcoming rounds of consultations.

The Ukrainian side was represented by First Deputy Minister of Justice Mykola Kucherianenko, Deputy Minister of Justice Oleksandr Banchuk, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Mudra, First Deputy Minister of Finance Denys Uliutin, and Director of the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Oleksandr Ilkov.

Background

On 31 March 2023, the IMF Executive Board approved a new four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme for Ukraine with funding of about USD 15.6 billion (SDR 11.6 billion).

The programme is part of an international support package for Ukraine that currently stands at around USD 122 billion for 2023-2027. In 2024, the EFF programme envisages USD 5.4 billion of budgetary assistance to Ukraine.
