Oleksii Kuleba to head the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies
Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba will become the head of the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies. This decision was adopted during a Government meeting on 10 September. Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko will serve as the First Deputy Head of the Commission.
“Ukraine faces challenges daily that require swift and coordinated responses. The State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies must ensure coordination between all central and local authorities to respond to emergencies as effectively as possible and provide direct assistance to people,” emphasised Oleksii Kuleba.
The Commission is a permanent coordinating body of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Its responsibilities include organising and coordinating measures to prevent and respond to emergencies, protect lives and public health, and facilitate recovery following emergency events.
Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister has been appointed head of the Interagency Coordinating Commission on Regional Development. This body coordinates regional development policies, formulates proposals for the Government, and aligns the actions of central authorities and local self-government bodies. The Commission serves as a key platform for developing solutions related to spatial planning, investments in territorial development, and, from now on, international territorial cooperation.
