  • Oleksandr Kubrakov holds series of meetings with representatives of international banks on financing Ukraine’s recovery projects

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, held a series of meetings with representatives of international banks to discuss financing of Ukraine’s recovery projects:

“Several practical meetings with leading international banks – the Council of Europe Development Bank, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank.

The agenda includes financing of priority recovery projects, such as housing, critical and social infrastructure, attracting investment in the development of the Ukrainian economy, and modernising the transport sector.

    Council of Europe Development Bank.

We are considering several joint projects aimed at restoring housing. I would like to note that almost 700 people have already received compensation for their homes destroyed by the russians and were able to buy new ones. The Bank praised this programme, emphasising its anti-corruption component. The partners are considering further funding. We are talking about EUR 100 million with the possibility of increasing it. There are also 2 additional projects planned: renovation of apartment buildings and affordable mortgages for IDPs.

    The World Bank.

We are working together to restore housing and modernise transport infrastructure. Last year, with the support of the World Bank, we launched the eVidnovlennia programme, and 40,000 Ukrainians have already received state financial assistance for repairs in homes affected by russian aggression. I am confident that the project will continue to be funded this year. We are also focused on the continuation of the RELINK project for the transport sector. It provides for the modernisation of the road and railway network and ports.

    European Investment Bank

We have 13 joint projects at various stages of implementation. These are projects of the Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukrposhta, as well as individual projects aimed at developing water supply in Mykolaiv region, restoring social infrastructure facilities, and municipal transport. We are also awaiting approval of two project proposals: UKRAINE RECOVERY III – restoration of educational, healthcare and critical infrastructure facilities, and UKRAINE WATER RECOVERY – providing the population of Ukraine’s regions with sufficient quality drinking water and proper sewage disposal.”
