Today, on 13 February, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine Bridget Brink and USAID Mission Director James Hope.

The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Denys Uliutin, Deputy Minister of Finance Olga Zykova and Government Commissioner for Public Debt Management Yuriy Butsa.

The parties discussed the current economic and financial situation in Ukraine, as well as the importance of US support for further macro-financial stability.

Sergii Marchenko thanked Bridget Brink for systematic and comprehensive support of Ukraine, and expressed gratitude to the US Senate for approving the Foreign Aid Bill, which provides for USD 60 billion in assistance to Ukraine, of which USD 7.85 billion is direct budget support.

“Since February 2022, direct budget support from the United States has allowed the Government of Ukraine to ensure sustainable public administration and partially cover social and humanitarian expenditures of the State Budget. We hope that support will continue, as Ukraine’s victory over russian aggression is in the interests of the entire Euro-Atlantic community. Ukraine’s international partners understand how important their assistance is for the stability of our country. In its turn, the Government of Ukraine, in the framework of cooperation with its partners, is implementing the necessary reforms to attract external financing and ensure transparency and monitoring of the financial aid received,” the Minister of Finance said.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with Deloitte Consulting, which implements the USAID SOERA project, monitors the use of direct budget support from the United States Government. Taking into account that the majority of the US assistance was attracted through the World Bank’s PEACE in Ukraine project, the audit company PriceWaterhouseCoopers Ukraine is conducting an audit in accordance with agreed procedures to determine the eligible public expenditures made by Ukraine under the project.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the total amount of direct budget support received from the United States amounts to USD 23 billion.
