
High-Level International Energy Advisory Council addressed the provision of additional assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector
At the initiative of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko, an extraordinary meeting of the High-Level International Energy Advisory Council (IEAC) under the Ministry of Energy was convened. The agenda covers the latest developments related to the most massive russian attack on the Ukrainian energy system facilities since the beginning of the war.
The meeting was held online and co-chaired by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. The event brought together, in particular, Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland Anna Moskwa, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Josef Sikela, Minister of Economy of Slovakia Karel Hirman, as well as representatives of the relevant ministries of Greece, Great Britain, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, Austria.
"Yesterday russians carried out the most massive attack on the energy system of Ukraine, using about 100 missiles, as well as a large number of drones," noted German Galushchenko.
According to the Minister, the russian attacks caused significant damage to the electricity transmission system. During the evening and night, a series of repair works were carried out, which allowed to restore power supply to a number of critical infrastructure facilities and settlements. At the same time, the situation in the grid remains quite complicated.
German Galushchenko appealed to his colleagues with a request to provide Ukraine with additional equipment that will enable both rapid repairs and the stable operation of the power system, taking into account the large-scale destruction.
The participants of the meeting assured the Minister of Energy that they were already working with energy companies of their countries to provide the Ukrainian energy sector with equipment and facilities according to the list provided by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
"Ukraine is not alone in this battle with the aggressor. We will continue to support you and your energy sector," Kadri Simson concluded.
Representatives of the International Energy Advisory Council agreed to hold the next meeting on November 17 at the level of technical experts.
It is worth reminding that the High-Level International Energy Advisory Council under the Ministry of Energy was established to provide support and assistance to Ukrainian energy sector in overcoming the challenges and threats posed by the open energy terrorism of the russian federation.
It includes high representatives of the relevant ministries of Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, as well as the Secretariat of the Energy Community and the International Energy Agency.
