The first meeting of the Coordination Platform for the Development of Arms and Military Equipment (AME) within the Ministry for Strategic Industries of Ukraine will be held on October 18, 2021 at 14:00 at the Government House in the format of a round table.

The event will be attended by representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the Ministry for Strategic Industries, the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (the National Guard, the State Border Service, the State Emergency Service), the Central Research Institute of Armaments and Military Equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, SC Ukroboronprom, a number of private defense companies and organizations, as well as representatives of the concerned expert community.

The coordination platform was established on the initiative of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleg Uruskyi in order to organize effective interaction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other law enforcement agencies with enterprises of the defense and aerospace industry.

The coordination platform should provide for the following:

• implementation of a unified state industrial policy in the field of state defense procurement, defense-industrial and aerospace activities;
• effective cooperation of public administration bodies, law enforcement agencies, defense enterprises and military units in the framework of work on modernization and renewal of armaments and military equipment (AME), as well as meeting critical needs;
• elaboration of specific proposals for the development of AME, taking into account the realities of modern armed conflicts and hostilities in eastern Ukraine.

The event will promote the proper implementation of the National Security Strategy of Ukraine, approved by the Decree of the President of Ukraine, and the Strategy for the Development of the Defense Industry of Ukraine until 2025, developed by the Ministry for Strategic Industries, approved by the National Security and Defense Council; in addition, of program documents on the development of armaments and military equipment.
