EcoSystem unified ecological web portal operates in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution "On the Unified Ecological Platform EcoSystem". This decision will regulate the functioning of a single environmental platform, which the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources launched in a test mode in May 2021.

"As of today, EcoSystem is becoming the official state web portal. This is the only resource for verified environmental information and obtaining environmental administrative services. Based on it, we have already opened 66 registers and are constantly working to increase the number of published environmental data sets. They are available to every citizen of our country. By the end of 2021, there will be about 80 of them. Ukraine is fulfilling its obligations and opening to its citizens access to information on the state of the environment provided by the Aarhus Convention," said the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Roman Abramovsky.

This document defines EcoSystem as a national environmental automated information and analytical system integrated with the Diia portal, which is designed to provide access to environmental information, as well as - effective electronic interaction between government, business and community to obtain administrative services in the field of environment protection.

EcoSystem already contains 7 online services, 66 registers of open ecological data, 3 integrated information resources: the State Cadastre of Territories and Objects of the Nature Reserve Fund (ukr), the website wownature.in.ua and the National Register of Emissions and Transfer of Pollutants. "I believe that in the future EcoSystem will become a truly modern and effective tool for managing natural resources and a platform for finding up-to-date information on the state of the environment in Ukraine," commented Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine (CDTO) Ruslan Strelets.

The document is also aimed to fulfill the following tasks:

• ensure a high level of awareness of Ukrainians about the state of the environment;
• facilitate the implementation of the e-government mechanism;
• guarantee transparency in the activities of executive bodies;
• simplify the integration and systematization of environmental information possessed by public authorities at various levels;
• promote the coordination of the positions of stakeholders and increase public participation in decision-making related to environmental policy, etc.
