Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity to leverage help from international donors and the public sector to support institutions
The Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine has stepped up its crisis response and is conducting a review of all institutional facilities, with a focus on those housing people with limited mobility. Deputy Minister Tetiana Kyrienko visited five institutions in Kyiv and the surrounding region. The total number of people in these institutions is over 1,200.
The main purpose of these visits is to identify basic needs in order to help the institutions get through the winter in conditions of blackouts caused by russian shelling.
"Despite russia's attempts to leave Ukrainians without heat and light, we are gathering all our strength to prevent this from happening. Visits to such institutions and communication with the administration allow us to compile a complete list of needs and resources that will help us survive this winter. We now have a list of items that institutions need so that residents do not experience cold or other discomfort," said the Deputy Minister.
Currently, generators remain the greatest need. The Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity plans to involve the public sector and international partners to cover these costs.
Earlier, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Uliutin announced the allocation of funds from the reserve fund to provide social institutions and places of temporary stay for IDPs with fuel.
