Iryna Vereshchuk: The task of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories for 2023 is to integrate IDPs

The task of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories for 2023 is the integration of internally displaced persons. This was stated by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, during a TV interview. She reminded that 4.8 million internally displaced persons were currently registered in Ukraine. Their real number is about 7 million.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Government is trying to support IDPs in every way possible. Last year, the budget allocated UAH 55 billion in housing allowances. They receive humanitarian aid, food packages, clothing, and basic necessities. The Government’s eRobota project is also being successfully implemented, providing grants under 6 programs.

“But the assistance should not be limited to this alone. It should be multifaceted. This includes socialization of IDPs in a new place of residence, assistance in finding a job, and receiving all the benefits that apply to other residents. They should not wait with an outstretched hand, but become full-fledged members of communities. At the same time, they should feel their own independence and be confident in the near future for themselves, their children, and parents. That is why our task in 2023 is to find as many tools as possible to do this. Including with the help of our international partners,” summarized Iryna Vereshchuk.
