Zhytomyr region has been hosting evacuated residents of Donetsk region since 18 April 2023 in accordance with the decision of the Government’s Coordination Headquarters.
Since then, the region has received more than 1,100 people. Among them are 149 people with reduced mobility and disabilities and 279 children.
They have been accommodated in the territorial communities of Berdychiv, Zhytomyr, Zviahel and Korosten districts of Zhytomyr region.
The evacuees received one-off financial assistance totalling over UAH 2.5 million.
Upon arrival in the host communities, they received humanitarian and medical assistance. In particular, the responsible specialists from the territorial communities of the region provided comprehensive support in providing educational services to all children.
They also helped with the issuance of IDP registration certificates, state housing assistance, renewal of documents, etc.
“I am sincerely grateful to the Zhytomyr regional military administration, and in particular Olena Hryshchuk, the communities, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukrposhta, the State Emergency Service and the International Organization for Migration for the fact that our Donetsk residents not only received help, but also felt warmth and support,” said Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
