Iryna Vereshchuk: New IDP Strategy to be adopted shortly
A new IDP Strategy will be adopted in the near future. Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, announced this during a national news telethon. She clarified that a document had been developed awaiting approval by the Government. This document is the Strategy of State Policy on Internal Displacement until 2025.
“The Strategy is primarily based on our experience gained in the first months of the full-scale war. Back then, we were working in a crisis response mode. Now the Government has taken full control of the situation, we manage all the processes related to evacuation of people and their placement in safe regions,” the official added.
The evacuation is going on as planned. Everyone who wants to leave now has the necessary information and knows who to contact. All types of assistance are in place: humanitarian, financial, etc.
“The adoption of a new Strategy will allow us to comprehensively address all issues related to IDPs. It provides for all stages, starting from the decision to relocate IDPs and ending with the period when a person decides to return to the de-occupied and safe territory,” summarized Iryna Vereshchuk.
