During the quarantine, i.e. from March 12, 2020, until today, a UAH 11.5 billion in unemployment benefits to those registered in employment centers has been paid. There are no arrears in payments of unemployment benefits. Also, in order to financially support small and medium-sized businesses, the Government has allocated UAH 2.8 billion from the COVID-19 Response Fund for the Partial Unemployment Assistance Program. As of today, UAH 2.5 billion has already been financed.

This was announced by the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko.

“Combating unemployment can only be effective when applying a comprehensive approach. To this end, we have launched various support mechanisms. This is a program of partial unemployment, due to which we have managed to save jobs for 373,700 citizens. That is the program "5-7-9", one of the conditions of which was to maintain the number of staff. That is the strengthening of the work of regional employment services, with the assistance of which 419,000 people got jobs during the quarantine period,” commented the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko.

The Minister stressed that the financing of programs to support the unemployed and entrepreneurs during the quarantine period is under the constant control of the Government, which, if necessary, promptly amends the legal framework for additional allocation of funding.

Thus, under the recent government initiatives there have been allocated an additional UAH 80 million for the partial unemployment benefit program, and almost UAH 1.2 billion to cover the need for timely payment of unemployment benefits.
