The Government is engaged in matters relating to social protection, first and foremost, increasing incomes and wealth of Ukrainians. Issues at stake are also improvement in the quality of service provision in various areas, creation of the necessary infrastructure, and this is one of tools for leveling radical mood in society. This was stated by Hennadii Zubko, Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine on air of 112.UA TV channel.

"We are working to ensure economic stability in conditions of the Russian agression. Just last year, 62 new industrial companies were opened in Ukraine, which, in turn, is an indicator of the inflow of foreign direct investments into the country. Investors are interested in central Ukraine. In addition, a large number of international financial assistance is directed to the east of the country ", Hennadii Zubko emphasized.

According to the Vice Prime Minister, at present, the western regions of Ukraine, more than other regions, experience shortages of personnel through labor migration to European countries. "Along with Russian military aggression and the threat of terrorist acts inside the country, financial stability and attrition of personnel are  among the pressing issues of the country," he underscored.

"Today, we are shaping a roadmap for regional development in terms of the principles of sectoral development, which promotes competition between the regions. There are promising sectors for attracting investment  in light, processing and woodworking industries or in service provision sectors. This is an instrument that gives investors a clear understanding of investment attractiveness of regions", the Vice Prime Minister stressed.

Hennadii Zubko recalled the Government approved the new methodology for measuring socio-economic development of regions developed by the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities, henceforth it will be assessed by two main indicators, in particular, regional human development index and  competitiveness index. "The calculation of the regional human development index is carried out according to the following indicators: long and healthy life, well-being and decent work and education. The methodology for calculating regional competitiveness encapsulates standardization of indicators and application of weight coefficients in accordance with the level of development of the region. The source of information for calculating the abovementioned index is data from government and industry statistics, as well as survey data", the Vice Prime Minister underscored.
