The situation regarding heat supply in the capital following the overnight russian attack was discussed at a meeting of the Headquarters for Elimination of the Emergency Situation in the Energy System of Kyiv and Kyiv Region. The discussion covered progress on restoration works, the mobilisation of additional personnel and resources, and support for residents of affected districts amid freezing temperatures. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.

Currently, 1,142 multi-storey apartment buildings in the capital remain without heat supply. The most difficult situation is in the Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. An additional 257 personnel in 63 emergency restoration teams have been brought in to assist with the works here.

In most buildings in the Desnianskyi district, heat supply has already been restored, with ongoing efforts to resolve isolated local incidents.

“Restoration of heat supply in Kyiv and the regions is continuing round the clock, with maximum resources being mobilised. In the capital, emergency restoration teams from other regions and from Ukrzaliznytsia have been brought in. In coordination with the Ministry of Energy, we are working to bring in additional energy equipment. In the coming days, support from our international partners will arrive in Kyiv,” noted Oleksii Kuleba.

At the same time, a network of Invincibility Points has been set up in the Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts, along with designated locations for tent encampments. Responsible businesses have joined in supporting residents – shopping centres are operating as Invincibility Points, with some running 24/7.

To assist residents, two “Invincibility Wagons” from Ukrzaliznytsia have been sent to the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, with another six dispatched to Kharkiv. These are mobile heating points where people can warm up, charge devices, and access communications. In addition, free hot meals are being delivered to residents of the Darnytskyi district via the Food Train initiative.

Meanwhile, restoration of heat supply in Kharkiv continues with additional resources and equipment drawn from other regions. In Dnipro, heating engineers are also continuing repairs to damage caused by the massive russian attack.
