
Denys Shmyhal paid a working visit to Kherson region
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal paid a working visit to the Kherson region. In particular, in the regional centre, he got acquainted with the progress in eliminating the consequences of the blast at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam.
The Head of Government noted that clearing works were underway, and special equipment was being provided from the regions.
"I am grateful to everyone who is now helping the Kherson region. The State Emergency Service, police, volunteers, philanthropists. Our international partners who are actively involved in the process. 16 European countries and the European Commission have offered their support. NATO's emergency response mechanism has been activated. The World Food Programme, the United Nations Population Fund, the International Organization for Migration and many others are helping. We appreciate and thank you for this solidarity and indifference," the Prime Minister stressed.
According to the State Emergency Service, more than 1,400 people and more than 124 pieces of equipment are involved in the disaster relief efforts. Rescuers have already evacuated 2,700 people in the Kherson region, including more than 300 children. In total, more than 3,700 people have been rescued from the flooded area.
Denys Shmyhal stressed that the main task after the water recedes would be to restore electricity and centralised water supply.
