Denys Monastyrskyy: Zaporizhzhya NPP is out of control, the Ministry of Interior is preparing for any scenario

The Zaporizhzhia NPP is currently out of control, the Ministry of Interior is preparing for any possible scenario, said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrskyy during a working trip to Sumy region.

"Currently, we can state with absolute responsibility that there is no adequate control over the actions at the Zaporizhzhya NPP. Today, it is actually in the hands of the enemy and in the hands of ignorant specialists who can really allow a tragedy to happen. Those Ukrainian specialists who remained there are partially forbidden from the areas where they should work. As is known, military equipment of the russian federation is placed on the territory of the station now. All this is assessed as the critical level of threat," said Denys Monastyrskyy.

The Minister noted that the Ukrainian Government had already appealed to the IAEA with a request to ensure that this organization provides proper control over this nuclear power plant.

"Speaking of the situation at the ZNPP, we all could see the shelling carried out by russian troops on the power unit. This is terrible. Let me remind you that this is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, which has six power units. And it's hard to even imagine the scale of the tragedy that could happen if the russians continue to stay there. After the recent shelling of the station, we made sure that there are no deterrents for them. They are ready for any action, regardless of the consequences. This indicates that we have to prepare for any scenarios yet today," said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The Minister confirmed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in synergy with the State Emergency Service and the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, was engaged in considering of various scenarios, including the evacuation of the population of the surrounding settlements. Each nuclear facility has a clear, rigid plan of action in case of an emergency.
