NBU Simplifies the Procedure for Bringing Cash Foreign Currency in Ukraine
The
National Bank of Ukraine has simplified the procedure for bringing cash foreign
currency to Ukraine by residents and improves the procedure for bringing it out
of Ukraine.
At present,
resident individuals may bring into Ukraine cash in the amount exceeding EUR 10
thousand (or the equivalent in another currency) subject to its full
declaration in writing at the customs office and the provision of documents
confirming withdrawals of cash from accounts with financial institutions and
receipts confirming FX transactions with the cash, if any, for the amount
exceeding EUR 10,000 or its equivalent.
In the
future, Ukrainians will be allowed to bring cash in without
confirming documents only subject to its full declaration in writing at the
customs office.
At the same
time, the NBU specifies that bringing cash in the amount exceeding EUR 10
thousand (or the equivalent in another currency) out of Ukraine by resident
individuals is subject to the provision of documents confirming withdrawals of
cash from their own accounts with banks and receipts confirming FX transactions
with the cash, if any, for the amount exceeding EUR 10,000 or its equivalent.
Respective
amendments to this effect were approved by NBU Board
Resolution No. 127 of 12 December 2017 On Amendments to the Instruction on
Transporting Cash and Banking Metals across Ukraine’s Customs Border,
coming into effect from 14 December 2017.
