Ukraine has improved its performance and entered the TOP 30 countries in Global Open Data Index ranking. It was ranked #24 against other places in the Index and outran most of the EU countries, according to the annual ranking The Global Open Data Index, made by an international non-profit organisation Open Knowledge International.
The survey is designed to assess the openness of specific government datasets according to the Open Definition in 16 different areas including Government budget, spending and procurement, access to information about land ownership, election results at all levels and national statistics.
The most positive assessment, according to the survey, Ukraine got for the openness of the state budget and access to national registries. Apart from that, the research team also accessed the openness of statistical data, procurement, national legislation and Government spending. The least publicly available appeared the data on land ownership and information about the natural environment.
According
to the ranking, close to Ukraine are Germany, Hong Kong and Austria.
Commenting
on the achievements of our country, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stressed:
"As compared to last year Ukraine has risen by 30 positions from being 54 th to the 24th. This is another
proof of the openness of Government activities. Over the past year we’ve
introduced a single open data portal, opened for free access most of the basic
registries, joined the International Open Data Charter and approved a relevant
roadmap of open data development. Open governance is a key to reforms in
Ukraine!"
