Local
authorities should enter the fray among the regions, launch a competition for
participation in projects, compete for investor and
entrepreneur. In the aftermath it's new jobs, improved wages and revenues to local
budgets. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Regional
Development, Building, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii
Zubko during the forum “From creating of consolidated
communities towards sustainable growth”.
“In 2014
the most strategic decision which was supported by the President, the
Government and the Verkhovna Rada
and the citizens - was adopted: a Concept of reforming of local government and
territorial power organization in Ukraine. During 2015-2016 we created the
foundation for the reform – necessary legal framework was adopted, communities
amalgamated, powers and resources were devolved, financial decentralization
implemented, state support provided (subventions, State Regional Development
Fund, etc.). Now the communities must move towards sustainable growth, supporting
of citizens, improving the quality of services. This means to prioritize
community development, use competitive advantages, attract investment and make
a breakthrough. We will succeed because we have an ambitious, dynamic and European
country,” noted Hennadii Zubko.
The Vice Prime
Minister reminded about the growing local budgets trend.
