During the current year in Ukraine a total of over 1.5 thousand kilometers of roads have been repaired. This was stressed by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion during his working trip to Odessa region.
"One of the priority objectives for our Government is road sector. During this year we have proven that the majority of those commitments the Government assumed directly as well as regional authorities, have been executed. The activities have been launched in Odessa region on Odessa – Reni highway section and the like. During this period we have successfully repaired more than 1.5 thousand kilometers of Ukrainian roads. I can assure you that this is just the beginning," said Volodymyr Kistion.
He reminded that in the draft budget for next year there had been planned about 14 billion budget funds for road maintenance. In this context Volodymyr Kistion congratulated everyone on the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the law on the Road Fund.
"The law is aimed to fundamentally change the attitude and the responsibility for the Ukrainian state road network. That is, it provides an opportunity within the framework of operation and construction of roads to carry out the processes of decentralization: some roads are to be transferred to the regional authorities. Also, this law envisages a formula-based distribution of financial resource", stressed the Vice Prime Minister.
He called on all executive authorities at all levels to work on the implementation of this law.
"The law was passed, and I believe that together with the central executive bodies, together with the Ministry, the Ukravtodor, the regional authorities we will make every effort to implement the provisions of this act", urged the Vice Prime Minister.
