Hennadii Zubko promises municipal infrastructure in eastern regions to be restored under EIB projects by the end of 2017
EIB funds in the
framework of the emergency loan program for the restoration of Ukraine in the
amount of EUR200 million will be used to finance projects of assistance to IDPs.
This was stated by Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development,
Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii
Zubko.
The Cabinet of
Ministers adopted a resolution defining the use of the European Investment Bank’s
money to finance projects of assistance to IDPs within the emergency loan
program for the restoration of Ukraine.
"Together
with experts from the European Investment Bank we selected the first 72
projects worth about UAH 700 mln. They all are aimed
at restoring infrastructure and solving the problems of IDPs in areas of Luhansk and Donetsk controlled by the Government as well as
in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv
and Zaporizhia regions," Hennadii
Zubko informed.
Also, these funds
will be spent on the restoration of roads and railways damaged by the conflict,
including the affected bridges, repair or reconstruction of state or public
buildings.
"We expect that these projects are scheduled to be completed no later than the end of 2017," he stressed.
