The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supported an initiative of the Ministry of Justice aimed at launching the system of electronic apostille in Ukraine. Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko informed about this at a meeting of the Government.

"We're introducing the new innovative service under a Cabinet’s decision – electronic apostille," the Minister said at a Government’s meeting on Wednesday.

The Minister said that an apostille is the endorsement of non-commercial documents by justice agencies for submission to foreign institutions – sale and purchase agreements, court rulings, and birth certificates.

Pavlo Petrenko stressed that 120,000 Ukrainians applied to justice agencies to receive apostilles each year. The apostilles were issued only in Kyiv.

This advanced technology operates only in 23 countries, including the USA, the UK, Austria, Belgium and other technologically developed countries. Henceforth, Ukraine has joined them.

He pointed out that any Ukrainian citizen will be able to print the document from the site within 24 hours, or receive it in the nearest civil registration office.
