Stepan Poltorak met with foreign advisors working within the Defense Ministry in the framework of NATO assistance to Ukraine

Stepan Poltorak, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, held talks with foreign advisors working within the Defence Ministry in the framework of the NATO international support.

A visit of Ambassador Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, preceded this event when the parties discussed the practical issues of functioning of the group of advisors to the Ukraine’s MoD.

The Minister of Defence reminded about decision taken regarding advisors’ involvement at initial phases of elaboration of one or other document.

“I think the advisors should provide their assistance at the initial phases of implementation of defence reform. Such a job will be the most efficient,” the Minister remarked.

Col. Gen. Stepan Poltorak stressed the necessity to hold regular meetings with advisors to solve the current issues.

“I’m sure, thanks to joint efforts, we’ll achieve a desirable result,” the Minister of Defence noted.

Mr. Marcin Koziel, Director of NATO Liaison Office, praised the progress in dialog of the MoD specialists and foreign advisors and expressed hope the further cooperation of foreign advisors in defence ministry would be fruitful.

“We realize in which conditions you need to carry out reforms in the Ukrainian army,” Mr. Marcin Koziel said and thanked the Minister for his reformative decision and orientation at close cooperation with foreign advisors and NATO.
