Arseniy Yatsenyuk informs fire in the exclusion zone localized, radiation level safe
At a Government’s
meeting on Wednesday, April 29, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed
that by 12:45 a forest fire in the exclusion zone had been localized. The
radiation level is safe.
"Given that
acceptable norms equal 50 micro-roentgens
per
hour, in the alienation zone the
background radiation does not exceed 21, and in Kyiv – does not exceed 11",
stressed the Head of Government.
"We brought out
necessary equipment. And due to the fact that yesterday the personnel of the
State Emergency Service promptly and responsibly used planes and helicopters,
as well as considerable amount of fire –fighting equipment and people, the fire
has been contained and the situation has stabilized," accentuated Arseniy
Yatsenyuk.
He reminded the
previous day he had inspected the process of liquidation of the fire: "We
flew all over the area covered by the fire."
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
appealed to the acting chairman of the State Emergency Service Zorian Shkiriak today to send him
aerial video of firefighting.
The Prime Minister
also commissioned to measure radiation level publicly, "to confirm that
the situation is under control, completely safe, and poses no threat to life
and health of citizens, even those who are working directly in the area to
extinguish the fire".
