PM after meeting with Coalition Council: the sooner we approve relevant bills, the sooner we stabilize the economic situation

On Thursday, February 26, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and members of the Cabinet held a meeting with the Council of the coalition of parliamentary factions in order to approve bills aimed at financial and economic stabilization in the country.

Following the meeting Arseniy Yatsenyuk told reporters that the purpose was to get maximum support of all the parliamentary factions of the coalition.

He said that within recent days he along with the members of the Government held meetings with all the factions of the parliamentary coalition, except for the largest one: "I hope that tomorrow they will have the opportunity to meet and work with the Government on all bills that are necessary for financial and economic stabilization of the state."

The Prime Minister underlined that the Government and the parliamentary factions built up a "new system of relations", "This is the first time when the whole Government spent hours with all the factions not faction leaders discussing clause after clause every bill and even a financial plan of Naftogaz or Ukrgazvydobuvannya."

The Prime Minister emphasized that during the meetings representatives of the factions gave very constructive suggestions and noted in this the factions of "Samopomich" [Self Reliance] and "Radical Party".

"Suggestions submitted by the factions that are real proposals not political intrigue not only get the perception of the Government, but we are seconding them and introducing into appropriate bills," he said.

He called it annoying that currently only two parliamentary committees made decisions on these bills and other parliamentary committees didn’t have time to gather: "Once again I want to emphasize that the sooner we will approve relevant bills, the sooner we can stabilize the economic situation."

"I hope that the Parliament will work as it should. An adjusted bill should be introduced before the Parliament and voted without long debate, because bills should be prepared before the parliamentary hall, not during the passage of the bill, and make from this a political show. This should be a technical, legal and correct political decision of all parliamentary factions within the coalition," he stressed.

"United coalition and efficiency is what I call Ukrainian Parliament to," the Prime Minister highlighted.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also said that he urged the Parliament to gather a meeting on this issue as soon as possible.
