Australian Minister for Justice considers comprehensive assistance from the Ukrainian side allowed experts to access MH-17 crash site

Only thanks to comprehensive assistance from the Ukrainian side experts gained access to the MH-17 crash site. Australian Minister for Justice Michael Keenan stated at a meeting with Volodymyr Groysman.

Russia is trying to avoid the legal completion of the investigation of the Malaysian Airlines MH17 crash, that’s why it creates obstacles both for Ukraine and the international investigative group, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Volodymyr Groysman said at the meeting with Australian Minister for Justice Michael Keenan.

"Russia is doing everything to prevent the legal completion of the investigation. It always prevents from getting onto the territories that may be important for the investigation," Volodymyr Groysman underlined.

Instead, according to him, Ukraine has done and will do its utmost to facilitate the completion of the investigation and searching for perpetrators.

"The plane was shot down by those supported by the Russians. We are interested in bringing those responsible to justice," the Vice Prime Minister stressed.

Volodymyr Groysman and Michael Keenan discussed the progress of the investigation, which is conducted by an international team led by the Netherlands. In particular, the Justice Minister of Australia said that only through comprehensive promotion of the Ukrainian authorities investigators gained access to the crash site on the territory controlled by terrorists.

"Without Ukrainian assistance we could not have had such an access. This process continues, and it takes a lot of time and effort, but we hope that those responsible will be brought to justice," Michael Keenan emphasized.
