Volodymyr Groysman met with Johannes Hahn

During a working
visit to Brussels on October 8, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of
Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services
Volodymyr Groysman
met with Commissioner for Regional and Urban Policy Johannes Hahn
The parties discussed
the initiatives of introducing reforms of power decentralization and
administrative structure, as well as the steps taken to normalize the situation
within the country, in particular implementation of the peace plan of President
of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
Peculiar attention
was paid to the ways of rendering to Ukraine of financial and humanitarian
support by the EU, including the aid to the displaced persons and the victims
of the events in the East of Ukraine necessary to prepare for the winter
period.
In this context the
Vice Prime Minister stressed the importance for Ukraine to hold the Donor
conference and urged to design a special EU assistance program to solve the
problems of rehabilitation of Donbas.
Volodymyr Groysman informed the EU about the extent of the
destruction caused by the actions of the Russian Federation in the East of
Ukraine and stressed that the key objective for the Ukrainian Government is
strengthening the protection of the state border, providing with accommodation
and jobs the internally displaced persons, as well as the restoration of the
infrastructure of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Also Volodymyr Groysman and Johannes Hahn
tackled future cooperation in the framework of the implementation of the
Association Agreement in section of regional cooperation, and also stressed the
importance of involving regions
of Ukraine in the existing programs and policies of the EU.
The meeting was also attended
by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.
