Volodymyr Groysman met with World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Qimiao Fan
The completion of the
investment project for the development of urban infrastructure, which was financed
by the World Bank to improve the quality and energy-efficiency of water supply
and sanitation systems in 14 cities of Ukraine, was discussed during the
meeting between the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Regional
Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Volodymyr Groysman
and the World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Qimiao Fan.
Moreover, the parties
discussed the prospects of adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the
draft Law "On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding the
improvement of payments for energy carriers and repayment of loans received
from international financial organizations", which had been designed by
the Ministry of Regional Development and was registered in the Parliament. The
project envisages raising efficiency of participating enterprises for the
centralized water supply taking into account the consumed power energy, and
also determines a mechanism to ensure repayment of loans received from
international financial organizations.
The parties stressed
that the adoption of this law will make effect on the prospects for the
implementation of another two joint with the World Bank investment projects
"Development of urban infrastructure-2” and District Heating Energy
Efficiency Project, that are planned to launch in 2014.
During the meeting
the interlocutors agreed to hold a joint meeting of Volodymyr Groysman with the Vice President of the World Bank for
Europe and Central Asia, Laura Tuck to discuss further cooperation between
Ukraine and the World Bank.
The visit to Ukraine by
the Vice-President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia was planned
for the second half of September.
