Next week Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources to present a National strategy for the implementation of the AA with the EU in the field of environmental protection

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources is working on the approximation of national legislation to the EU requirements. This issue is of particular importance through the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in the field of environmental protection. With this purpose the Ministry has developed a National strategy for the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU in the field of environmental protection, and already on August 21, will be ready to present it to the wide public. This was announced by Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Andriy Mokhnyk at a briefing at the Government House on 12 August 2014.

"The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources is actively working on the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU in the field of environmental protection. Already on August 21, the National strategy on approximation of Ukrainian legislation to the EU law in the field of environmental protection is to be presented to the Ministry," noted the Minister.

He emphasized that the Association Agreement with the EU not only provides significant prospects for Ukraine and opens new horizons, but also poses serious challenges to our society.

"We have to approximate 29 sources of the European law with the Ukrainian legislation (26 directives, 3 technical regulations). The changes affect eight sectors of the economy. This is very serious, because they provide not only an approximation of legislative sphere, but also a serious financial burden that would be borne by the state and economic entities," stressed Andriy Mokhnyk.
