Situation at Ukrainian-Russian border

Border guard units keep guarding and defending the Ukrainian-Russian border under strenuous conditions. It is complicated by constant bombardment on positions of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and Counterterrorist Operation forces, and by active aerial reconnaissance by Armed Forces of RF violating aerial space of Ukraine.

From 10.30 p.m to 02.00 a.m. (06.08.2014) howitzer bombardment on positions of consolidated border guard detachment from Russian Federation on the axis of settlements “Monotskyi” (Russia) – “Yuhanivka” (Ukraine) was performed. Totally, 46 shots were performed, there are injured and wounded among border guards.

On August 06, four OSCE representatives got acquainted with situation at the state border at the area of Krasna Talivka settlement (Luhansk region). 2 citizens of the USA, 1 citizen of Bulgaria and 1 citizen of Russia inspected areas which were attacked in recent days.

Aerial targets were detected at the area of responsibility of “Chervonyi Chaban” border guard division (Kherson region):

At 08.55 p.m. (06.08.2014) border guard patrol detected the UAV above water surface of Perekopsk Gulf Kalanchak district, Kherson region).

At 10.55 p.m. (06.08.2014) border guard patrol detected the UAV, which violated the airspace of Ukraine and flew on the axis of “Chervonyi Chaban – Chaplynka” at a height of about 1 km.

At 11.15 p.m. (06.08.2014) the UAV was detected, which again violated the airspace of Ukraine in this area at height of about 1.5 km.
