Olexandr Sych participates in All-Ukrainian Patriarchal Pilgrimage to the miraculous icon of the Mother of God in Krylos
The Vice Prime Minister of
Ukraine Olexandr Sych has taken part in the All-Ukrainian
Patriarchal Pilgrimage to the miraculous icon of the Mother of God in Krylos village (ancient capital of Halych
kings) for the peace in Ukraine.
The III All-Ukrainian
Patriarchal Pilgrimage to the miraculous icon of the Mother of God in Krylos village located in Ivano-Frankivsk
region was attended by over 20 bishops, 450 priests and dozens thousands
pilgrims from all over Ukraine. The event was special as there was held laying on of hands of the Bishop assistant to the Ivano-Frankivsk eparchy of UGCC Josaphat
Moshych on the walls of the ancient cathedral. The last
such sanctification in Krylos dates back to the XII
century, and therefore became an important historical event in the history of
the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
The Vice Prime
Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Sych participated in the Pontifical Divine Liturgy led by the Major
Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek
Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav. Together with the thousands of pilgrims the Vice
Prime Minister prayed for peace in Ukraine, for the health of Ukrainian military
personnel who perform missions in the area of the ATO, and their fast return
home, to their parents, wives and children.
In the framework of
the pilgrimage the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Sych also visited
the Assumption of Virgin Mary Church which had been erected in Krylos during 1584 – 1586 and served as a Bishop’s see,
attended the Ancient Halych Historical Museum and
paid a visit to the Well the Holy Spirit in the picturesque Vishnevets
gorge.
