Signing of the
Association Agreement on June 27 will become an appropriate response to the
challenges posed to Ukraine. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin declared during his meeting with EU High
Representative Catherine Ashton.

In the framework
of a visit to Luxembourg to participate in the meeting of the EU Foreign
Affairs Council the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin held a meeting
with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton. The head of the
foreign political department of Ukraine provided detailed information to the
EU High Representative on the peace plan of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko directed to settlement of the situation in the
East of the country and peculiarities of its implementation in the present
conditions. There was
stressed it is important to complete signing the Association Agreement with
the EU on June 27 of the current year which has to become a relevant response
to the challenges Ukraine faces in the context of protecting of its sovereignty
and territorial integrity. The parties
discussed urgent problems of regional security and touched upon a launch in
Ukraine of the EU Mission in the framework of the Common Security and Defence
Policy (CSDP). The Minister expressed gratitude for the operative elaboration
and approval by the EU side a Concept on settlement the crisis which
determines frames of activity of the abovementioned Mission. At this, he
stressed the Ukrainian party is especially interested in being included into
spheres of activity of the Mission in the issues of border security measures.
