  • Hennadii Zubko: Ukraine’s housing stock readiness for the heating season accounts for 60%

It’s two calendar months remaining before the start of the heating season. And the current readiness of the housing stock of Ukraine makes up 60%. Social facilities - schools, kindergartens and hospitals will be ready by September 1st. Hennadii Zubko, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, said at a conference call dedicated to the issues of preparation for the heating season with the regions.

“The key issues in the preparation for the heating season include not only the technical and regulatory work on the preparation of boiler rooms, housing and social facilities. And first of all, it is the payment by district heating providers (DHP) with NJSC Naftogaz, which directly influence the receipt of gas nominations for the next heating season. I warn all owners of DHP companies and mayors - if the state makes it possible to pay for the accumulated debts over the next 5 years, be on the restructuring schedule. It is quite possible to find UAH 2.6 million in the city budget, in which UAH 300 million is your local revenues. The only thing to do is to set priorities correctly”, Hennadii Zubko stressed, citing the example of Smila in Cherkasy region.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that before the start of the heating season, local authorities should focus on installing building meters. On the housing stock - the best indicators in Cherkasy and Mykolaiv regions. The worst situation in Kirovohrad region. "Ukrainians should pay only for the service consumed and not for the accrued standards", Hennadii Zubko urged.
