Between April 2016 and August 2019, 320 kindergartens were opened in Ukraine and more than 5,600 schools were renovated, upgraded and built all over the country. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced this on August 21 during a Government meeting. The Prime Minister presented the current state of affairs in the economy, social, education, medicine, defense sectors and outlined the main priorities that need to be continued.
The Head of Government emphasized that during the work of the current Government 85.5 thousand places in kindergartens were created. This significantly reduces the deficit, which in 2016 amounted to 100 thousand places.
What concerns school education, since September 2018 the Government has been implementing a fundamental project - the New Ukrainian School. Under its standards 1 million children will be educated this year. An issue at stake, first of all, is related to teaching methods and financial support for schools. Total state investment in the New Ukrainian School amounted to UAH 7 billion.
The gradual increase in teachers' salaries is another important issue. From 2016 to 2018, the growth was 1.5 to 3 times. And from January 2020 there will be a new stage of growth of income of educators - on the average on 20-70%. Moreover, the increase will affect not only school teachers, but also kindergarten teachers, masters of industrial training and more.
"These changes cannot be halted. By the end of 2020, the queue to kindergartens should be eradicated. It's realistic to do and we proved it. We need to continue the reform of school education, so we will get a New Ukrainian School for our children. Without sound education there will be no economic growth", the Head of Government underlined.
