For more than 23 months of full-scale war in Ukraine, many facilities of the Ukrainian medical infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed by the russian army. russia continues to target and attack hospitals, clinics, outpatient facilities and maternity wards, etc.
Despite the war and new challenges for the medical system in Ukraine, work continues to restore medical facilities. Thus, in almost two years, 480 medical facilities have been fully restored in different regions of Ukraine, and another 372 have been partially restored.
Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions are the leaders in terms of the number of restored medical facilities.
It should be noted that the Government’s priority remains unchanged – to provide Ukrainians with quality and necessary medical services. That is why the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and its partners continue to work on restoring the Ukrainian medical infrastructure to ensure that the necessary medical care is available to every patient.
It should also be noted that during almost two years of full-scale war, the enemy damaged 1,518 medical facilities and destroyed another 195 facilities completely.
The largest damage was done to healthcare facilities in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. It is currently impossible to collect full information about Luhansk region.
In addition, the russian army damaged 103 ambulances, destroyed 253 vehicles and seized 125 ambulances.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Health recently reported the opening of a modular clinic in Chernihiv region, where russia was destroying medical infrastructure.
