Starting March 1, 2020, the border crossing with the Russian Federation will be allowed by international passports. This will only apply to Ukrainian citizens traveling from Ukraine to the Russian Federation. The corresponding decision was made at a Government meeting on December 18.

This decision is aimed to reduce the time of border control for the citizens. Special devices are used to read and check the data from the passport.

Meanwhile, when a Ukrainian citizen returns from the territory of the Russian Federation to the territory of Ukraine, the State Border Service of Ukraine will allow for the unhampered enter for the citizens of Ukraine by internal passports and birth certificates.

The Government's resolution stipulates for the suspension of provisions of agreements with the Russian Federation having been concluded before the armed aggression, which allowed crossing the border by an internal passport or birth certificate for persons under 16.
