Yulia Svyrydenko: A Special Tribunal on the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine can ensure the real accountability of the aggressor
Today, at the Second Parliamentary Summit in Bucha, chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, the participants honored the memory of all our people whom russia had killed and tortured during the occupation of the Kyiv region. The presence of representatives from 22 parliaments and parliamentary assemblies alongside us on the fourth anniversary of Bucha’s liberation is an important sign of support for Ukraine. This was emphasized by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
“The crimes committed by the russians four years ago in the Kyiv region, just like those the aggressor commits every day in our occupied territories, remain unpunished. Only holding the aggressor truly accountable can prevent such tragedies from recurring. This can be ensured by a Special Tribunal on the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine,” emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko. “We are sincerely grateful to the countries that have already joined the Enlarged Partial Agreement on its operation, as well as to the European Commission for its decision to become a founding member.”
The Prime Minister called for the Convention on the Establishment of an International Commission for the Examination of Claims for Ukraine to be ratified as soon as possible and for a compensation fund to be created to ensure reparation of damages.
