The Government has adopted a series of measures that will help make daily life more accessible and comfortable for people with disabilities. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Among the key decisions:

1. Support for the purchase of household appliances adapted for people who have lost their sight.

According to the Head of Government, veterans who have partially or completely lost their sight will be able to receive up to UAH 95,000 in assistance for the purchase of adapted household appliances. These funds can be used to purchase appliances adapted to the needs of people with visual impairments from a specified list of 26 devices—at the veteran’s discretion.

The assistance will be provided in cooperation with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The maximum payment amount is up to UAH 95,000, with an additional UAH 2,000 allocated for banking services. The payment will be made regardless of whether the recipient receives other types of assistance.

2. The system for monitoring accessibility in communities has been updated.

Yulia Svyrydenko announced that assessments will now apply not only to government agencies, transportation, and infrastructure facilities, but also residential buildings, stores, pharmacies, banks, hotels, restaurants, and other services that people use every day: “This will help us gain a comprehensive understanding of the actual state of accessibility in the urban environment and make communities more accessible.”

3. New rules were adopted to support the employment of people with disabilities.

The Prime Minister announced that clear monitoring mechanisms are being introduced for employers, along with the opportunity to receive incentives for creating jobs for people with disabilities. The new rules will take effect on July 1, 2026, to give businesses time to adapt.

“Accessibility is about equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of age, health status, or life circumstances,” emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.
