Yulia Svyrydenko: Government earmarks UAH 1.2 billion for modern labs and educational spaces in lyceums

The Government is allocating UAH 1.2 billion to create modern laboratories and educational spaces in lyceums, which are the first to implement the specialized upper secondary school reform. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced.

“This will help educational institutions prepare for the launch of the three-year specialized upper secondary school and create high-quality conditions for students,” the Head of Government noted.

According to her, lyceums piloting the specialized upper secondary school program in the natural sciences, technology, and computer sciences will receive up to UAH 10 million to upgrade laboratories and learning spaces.

In addition, distance-learning lyceums will each receive UAH 2 million to create an effective digital educational environment.

The Government is also updating the allocation of funds for renovating classrooms in elementary schools (grades 5–9) based on community proposals. The grant will be directed to schools that have the capacity to set up modern laboratories as early as this year.

The resolution also officially confirms the right of special schools and educational-rehabilitation centers to receive funding for the renovation of elementary school classrooms.

Separately, the distribution of funding for equipping learning spaces for the subject “Defense of Ukraine” has been updated.

“We are bringing the education system closer to the needs of the market—specialists with practical knowledge and skills are in demand in the fields of engineering, technology, IT, and the natural sciences,” emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.
