In Tallinn, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko met with President of the Republic of Estonia Alar Karis, President of the Riigikogu Lauri Hussar, and Prime Minister Kristen Michal.

The parties agreed to strengthen defence cooperation, particularly in the field of unmanned systems, and to maintain a continuous exchange of experience in responding to security challenges.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government stressed that Estonia continues to support Ukraine’s energy sector. Its contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has already exceeded EUR 2.6 million. At the same time, Ukraine stands ready to share its own experience in decentralising energy generation and managing the energy system under challenging conditions.

Estonia remains a reliable ally on Ukraine’s path towards EU membership. Yulia Svyrydenko thanked Estonia for supporting the provision of an EU loan to Ukraine.

The meeting also covered further strengthening of sanctions pressure on russia, including work on the 21st sanctions package and efforts to counter the shadow fleet.

Particular attention was paid to the Bring Kids Back UA initiative aimed at returning Ukrainian children unlawfully deported to russia.

“I am grateful to Estonia for supporting these efforts,” the Prime Minister said.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government also highlighted Estonia’s leadership in advancing international accountability for russia. Estonia became the first country whose parliament ratified the agreement on the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, the parties are working on the creation of a compensation mechanism.

Yulia Svyrydenko expressed her gratitude to Estonia’s leadership for its participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts and for the projects already being implemented in Zhytomyr region.

“Ahead of us is the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk, where we will further expand our cooperation,” she said.
