State Energy Supervision Inspectorate: Scheduled power grid maintenance continues across all regions of Ukraine

State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision of Ukraine, posted 03 June 2026 10:13

The State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision of Ukraine continues to monitor and supervise the technical condition of electricity networks and the implementation of scheduled maintenance works by distribution system operators (DSOs).

Timely maintenance and restoration of electricity networks remain among the key factors ensuring the stable operation of the power system and reliable electricity supply to consumers, particularly under martial law.

According to monitoring results, despite ongoing challenges and the consequences of enemy attacks, DSOs carried out extensive repair works during January–April 2026, including:

  • repairing more than 7,200 km of overhead power line routes;
  • clearing approximately 15,600 km of overhead line corridors;
  • replacing more than 87 km of lightning protection wire.

In addition, a number of substations, transformer substations and other electrical equipment were repaired.

DSOs plan and carry out maintenance works in accordance with annual schedules under the Programme for Ensuring the Reliable Operation of Electricity Networks, approved by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision not only monitors the implementation of these measures but also assesses their completeness, quality and compliance with regulatory and technical operating requirements. Based on its supervisory activities, the Inspectorate provides recommendations aimed at addressing identified shortcomings and improving the reliability of network operations.

Systematic oversight of maintenance programmes makes it possible to identify problem areas in a timely manner, reduce the risk of emergency situations and strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system amid ongoing threats to the country’s energy infrastructure.
